Every year we volunteer to help Salvation Army with their annual Red Kettle Campaign here in Highland Village.
The campaign was started in 1891, when Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee was distraught because so many poor individuals in San Francisco were going hungry. During the holiday season, he resolved to provide a free Christmas dinner for the destitute and poverty-stricken. This eveolved into an event that helps fund the Salvation Army around the world!  Here are the complete historical details:  https://www.registertoring.com/redkettlehistory.aspx

What a wonderful season!
A great time was had by all at our 3rd annual Spaghetti Dinner. We raised an almost record for our much deserving non-profits.

We are proud to announce the Gavin A. Fleten Memorial Servant’s Heart Award to honor our co-founder, friend and THE model of what it means to have a servant’s heart.  From his years of delivering Meals on Wheels to serving as the de facto hunter/gatherer for anyone in need of his unique ability to bring people together for a common cause, Gavin was a force of nature unlike any other.  Gavin was not driven toward service by any particular cause.  He derived his passion from his desire to connect with people and to foster a network of connections that went deeper than most of us could ever strive to achieve on our own.
Don't forget that there is a spot available on our website for advertising. Please let us know if you would like to advertise your business for a small fee per month. Due to our upcoming events, we are promoting our website more and expect more traffic directed to our site.

Do you network using Facebook or Instagram?  If so, search for Highland Village Rotary Club and become a fan!  There are many Rotarians from the area who are fans and also non-Rotarians.  It's a great way to show our networking community, family and friends what we are doing in our club.  Club activity photos are posted there as well.
