Darla Pyron
What is GIS and how does the City use it?

Darla works for the City of Highland Village in the GIS division. GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems and is a set of tools used in every department, from the Santa Visits to the Celebrate Highland Village events and everything in-between. The GIS division creates mobile apps and maps. Darla works with the City manager's office to provide data and analytics to drive informed decisions and help the City make fiscally responsible decisions. Residents can find GIS at work on the City’s interact web map. On the web site you can view property information and trash and recycling days. The Police and Fire department use GIS tools for analyzing and improving response times and vacation watch requests. Come out and hear about something that you may have seen but never knew how much work went on behind the scenes.
