An officer is killed in the line of duty every 65 hours. Throughout history, there have been more line of duty deaths in the State of Texas than any other state or territory. The Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Fallen Officer Fund provides monetary assistance to Texas families of fallen heroes within 24 hours following an oficer’s line of duty death.

The TXFallenPD Tribute Event is a community event that takes place at The Shops of Highland Village.  Activities include a 5K run and civilian bike race in the morning and a Police Officer bike race and a Police Officer Obstacle Course Competition in the afternoon. There is live music, demonstrations, raffle prizes, a silent auction, kid zone, food, and drinks throughout the day.

We are proud to announce the Gavin A. Fleten Memorial Servant’s Heart Award to honor our co-founder, friend and THE model of what it means to have a servant’s heart.  From his years of delivering Meals on Wheels to serving as the de facto hunter/gatherer for anyone in need of his unique ability to bring people together for a common cause, Gavin was a force of nature unlike any other.  Gavin was not driven toward service by any particular cause.  He derived his passion from his desire to connect with people and to foster a network of connections that went deeper than most of us could ever strive to achieve on our own.

if you haven't purchased your "The BIG One" raffle ticket, you need to hurry! This annual event is the talk of the town and the prizes, yes, you heard it, PRIZES, as in THREE gift baskets filled with items that everyone wants and needs. Tickets are $20 each or 5 for $100. :)  Only 500 tickets will be sold and the drawing is soon. So, like I said, if you don't have a ticket, you need to "get cha one" before they are gone! Ask any HV Rotarian!

The lifeblood of the each Rotary club is based on the growth of new membership. New members bring new ideas and renewed energy into a club. The process for proposing new members is somewhat tedious, but is so for a reason. The following steps must be followed when proposing a new member to a Rotary Club.

All three returned with an incredible amount of knowledge, excitement and enthusiasm about Rotary and the future of Highland Village Rotary. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing and working with you to make our club the fun and successful organization we all want.

A District Disaster Response Committee and foundation had just been organized when the Haiti Disaster happened. This foundation has collected over $26,000 for Haiti relief. Now another disaster has happened in Chile. Many Rotarians in our district have friends in the Concepcion area of Chile where we had exchanged GSE teams a few years ago. If you or anyone you know wants to donate funds to help our friends in Chile, please make checks payable to:

"District 5790 Foundation, Inc." and mark in the memo area for "Chile Relief".
